1. What are some good reasons for establishing Perpetual Adoration?

a) To provide an easy, attractive and practical way of rendering God adoration which is His due as our Creator; of giving Him thanks for our redemption; of making reparation for our sins and the sins of mankind; of petitioning the good God for the constant help we stand in need of.

b) To show our gratitude to Our Lord for remaining among us in our tabernacles, and to make at least some atonement for the many sacrileges, indifferences and ingratitude which He receives in His Sacrament of Love.

c) To cultivate a more intimate union with Jesus Christ, so that as a consequence of this union the individual’s apostolic labors will become more effective and lasting; for the more a person is united with Christ, the more will Christ act in him and through him.

d) Adoration is an excellent means of fulfilling Our Lady of Fatima’s requests for prayer and reparation.

e) To fortify ourselves against the errors and pressures of secularism and of possible persecution.

f) To obtain peace for the world, especially in critical times.

g) To pray for many needs of individual adorers, their families, parishes, city, state, nation, etc., etc.

2. What are some of the spiritual benefits and graces that have generally been attributed to the establishment of parish adoration?

a) An increase in attendance at Holy Mass and in the reception of Holy Communion.

b) Return of fallen-away Catholics and the solving of marriage problems.

c) Increase in vocations to the priesthood and the religious life.

d) Increase in the number of converts.

e) Growing awareness of what it means to be a true Christian. Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament greatly aids our personal sanctification and gives us the desire and courage to spread the “good news” to others (“personal sanctification and the sanctification of others is the basis of all Catholic Action”—Pius XII).■
